Hector passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at his residence in Port Arthur. He was born September 18, 1923 to Juan and Victoria Gutierrez Cantu in Port Arthur, Texas. Hector retired from American Bridge US Steel in Orange Texas as a welder and then went on to become a realtor in Port Arthur. He served our Country in the US Army. He lived his entire life in Southeast Texas and was well known for his generosity and kindness and his playful demeanor. Hector loved fishing and taking road trips with his wife and spending time with his beloved grandchildren Hector was preceded in death by his wife "Lupe" of 48 years. He is survived by his children; Dr. Hector Cantu, Jr. and his wife Veronica of Houston, Alma Cantu and her partner Brian Castille of Groves and Robert Cantu and his wife Amanda of Beaumont. Grandchildren, Nerissa Richardson, Ryan Jimenez, Perian Cantu, Judith Smith, Lauren Powers and three great-grandchildren, sister, Eva Arenas, brother, Raul Cantu both of Nederland, TX. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 28, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM with a Rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves, TX. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, May 29, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Port Arthur with Rev T. R. Blanco officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorial Contribution can be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Port Arthur.

It's been two years since my Dad left us to be with the Lord and it still hurts! Though I get busy with everyday life, there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about my parents! May they truly Rest In Peace!
