Charles V. "Junior" Hanson III September 28, 1934 - August 2, 2015
Charles began life as the oldest child of Adeline "Tootsie" and Charles V. "Swede" Hanson II. He was followed by his three siblings, Barbara Jean Smithy, Arthur Edward Hanson and David Albright Hanson. Junior attended Trinity Lutheran elementary school and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. He then left for Korea in order to proudly serve his country as a member of the armed forces during the Korean conflict. After returning home, his next destination was Waco, Texas where he earned his BBA degree at Baylor University. After Baylor, it was back to Port Arthur where he realized that his "hearts' desire" was to go back to work at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. He had first started working there at the tender age of l4, doing odd jobs and helping out. It was his life's dream to eventually own Clayton Thompson and that dream was eventually fulfilled in l964. For all these many years he has been able to serve his community through his beloved funeral home. For the last forty of those years he accomplished this with his wife, Rochelle, by his side. His was truly "A Life Well Lived".

Junior was a good friend of my mom and dad and me. He said if I passed before he did he was going to take my fake leg and frame it in a shadow box and put it up in the hall of the funeral home and put Here lies an old Biker Friend. And I know Jr. would have done it. Jr. was always a very good friend and he would do anything he could for his friends. I will miss him a lot.

Dear Rochelle, so sorry for your great loss. Jr. in my opinion always had such a wonderful presence, he just stood out in any crowd. He was so funny and he always mad me laugh. I really loved him, how could you not. He was so loved by so many and he will be greatly missed. He was such a giving man. I hadn't seen Jr. in a long time but I thought of him often. I shared of love for the marsh with Junior, in particular the Keith Lake chain. He was always nice to me and was always there for my family in time of need. I will miss seeing him on the water.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Junior's passing. I looked up to Junior in so many ways. My first pay check was from the funeral home where I started doing little odd jobs, then eventually got to realize my childhood dream of making "ambulance calls" Junior always told me I could be anything I wanted to be, I just had to work for it, he encouraged me to be successful and helped me to grow into a young man, many years ago. Years later when when my parents passed, Junior was there for me and my family, he truly has been my hero for well over 40 years. Rest my friend, you have earned. I will miss you

Jr went to high school with my brother Johnny Young. They also went into the service together. My brorher passed away while in the service. Since then, Jr has always taken care of our family like we were his family. He will truly be missed.
