Glenn Albert Liepke March 12, 1931 - October 1, 2015

Glenn Albert Liepke, 84, of Groves passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at his home. Glenn was born March 12, 1931 to the late Albert and Mildred Zwernemann Liepke in Port Arthur, Tx. He attended 1st thru 7th grades at Trinity Lutheran School then Woodrow Wilson graduating from Thomas Jefferson in 1949. He then went on to Lamar College. He proudly served his country in Seoul, Korea with the U. S. Air Force. After being honorably discharged he worked 37 years at Texaco retiring as head of Lubrication Dept. He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran faith attending Trinity Lutheran & St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He also attended First Christian Church with his wife Marian. He was a longtime Port Arthur-Groves resident. Glenn was a God loving husband and father who loved to work his spring and fall gardens, visit with his class of '49 classmates, walking at the mall, meeting with his coffee drinking friends at Bruces and eating at the Senior Citizens Center. He was friendly to everyone-never to meet a stranger with his great sense of humor. He will be missed by many. Glenn was also preceded in death by previous wife, Betty Dawson Liepke, brother, Leon Ray Liepke and grandson, Jason Paul Liepke. Glenn is survived by his wife, Marian Dooley Liepke, his previous wife, Jeannine Moore Walther and their four children, Shelia (Wynne) O'Banion, Roxanne (Charles) Fry, Niel (Tiffany) Liepke and Dana (Buck) Holievina. Four grandchildren, Ashlie Edwards, Adam (Christin) Nobles, Eddy (Roxie) Fry, Rachel (Brian) Graham and ten great grandchildren. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home on Sunday, October 4, 2015 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Monday, October 5, 2015 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel At Clayton Thompson with Rev. Richard Turner and Rev. Scott Wallace officiating. Charles Keel a lifelong friend will sing acapella in Glenn's honor. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. Serving as pallbearers will be Neil Liepke, Wynne O'Banion, Adam Nobles, Buck Holievina, Jimmy Davis and Mickey Fenn. In lieu of flowers, please send loving gifts to St. Paul's Lutheran Church. A special "Thank You" to River City Hospice-especially Pat and Victor.
