Alejandro Miguel Ortiz September 29, 1960 - March 20, 2016

Alejandro Miguel Ortiz, 55, of Port Arthur passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

He was born on September 29, 1960 to Alejandro Ortiz, Sr. and Minerva De La Cruz Ortiz in Del Rio, Texas. Miguel worked as a heavy equipment operator with the Texas Department of Transportation for 23 years. He loved his co-workers. He was a loving and a caring person. Miguel was funny and always seemed to be the life of the party. He brought smiles and laughter to everyone he knew. Miguel enjoyed fishing, providing lawn service and avid craftsman. He loved the Dallas Cowboys. He was a member of Thriving House. Most of all Miguel loved his family and his church family.

Miguel was preceded in death by his father, Alejandro Ortiz, Sr. and a niece, Angelica Marie Villarreal.

He is survived by his mother, Minerva Ortiz, his loving wife, Lucy Galvan Ortiz, his children, Armando Miguel Ortiz, Antonio M. Ortiz, Angelica Maria Ortiz, step children, Joey Pompa and wife, Brenda and Tim Sims, brothers, Thomas Ortiz, Sr. and wife, Lori, Alejandro Ortiz, Jr., sisters, Cathy Villarreal and husband, Isidro and Tina Torres and husband, Juan. He was Paw-Paw to step-grandchildren, Ariana, Elii, Anali. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends to cherish his memory.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, March 24, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Service to honor Miguel's life will be celebrated at

1:00 PM Friday, March 25, 2016 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson with Pastor Jason Blanchard, serving as officiant. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
