Laverne Couch September 27, 1928 - April 30, 2016

Laverne Dyer Couch, 87, of Groves, Texas passed away on April 30, 2016 at her home.

She was born on September 27, 1928 to Ruth Ratcliff Dyer and Taft Dyer in Dubach, Louisiana. Laverne has been a resident of the Port Arthur/ Groves area for 64 years.

She worked as an operator at Central Bell Telephone in Shreveport for many years. Laverne and her husband, Billy owned and operated Couch Jewelers in Port Arthur from 1965 until 1989. She was a member of Providence Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Billy Couch, her son-in-law, Gerald Trahan.

Laverne is survived by her three daughters, Sheila Ruth Trahan of Port Arthur, Sandra Jean Guilbeau and husband, Steven of Beaumont, Sharon Sue Lackey and husband, Steve of Port Neches, her six grandchildren, Rusty Campbell and wife, Deanna, Quinton Guilbeau, Rebecca Carlton and partner, Christina Carlton, Suzette Aguirre, Robby Woodle and Bethany Woodle, her eight great grandchildren, Jordan Campbell, Chelsea Campbell, Bryce Guilbeau, Madison Guilbeau, Gabriel Tillman, Gavin Tillman, Haydon Aguirre and Ian-Lane Aguirre.

Visitation for family and friends will be from Noon till 2 PM Monday, May 2, 2016 at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Service to honor Laverne’s life will be at 2:00 PM Monday in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson with Dr. Clay Faulk, officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
