Steven Lee Benoit January 20, 1948 - October 17, 2016

Steven Lee Benoit, 68, of Hillister, Texas passed away on Monday, October 17, 2016 at Tyler County Hospital in Woodville, Texas.

Steve was born on January 20, 1948 to Lucy Benoit in Lafayette, Louisiana. He has been a resident of Hillister for the last 31 years. Steve served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked as a ranch hand for 30 years with Umphrey Land and Cattle.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucy Benoit Touchet and his sister, Geraldine Touchet.

Steve is survived by his loving wife, Linda Benoit of Hillister, his son, David Benoit and wife, Tracy of Colorado Springs, Colorado, his two daughters, Michelle Ezell and husband, Sean of Sulphur, Louisiana, Lisa Barefield and husband, Jermaine of Beaumont, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

He is also survived by his sister, Amanda Leger and husband, Billy Ray of Fannett, his two brothers, Gerald Touchet and Randy Touchet and wife, Tina all of Rye, Texas.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 9:00 AM until service time. Graveside service to honor Steve’s life will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, October 20, 2016 with Military Funeral Honors at Memory Gardens in Nederland under the direction of Clayton Thompson Funeral Directors.

Dad, you were the most beautiful person I've ever known. We lost a shining star but God got a beautiful Angel. Thank you for being you and touching everyone's lives the way did. You were the BEST. My heart is shattered and I have to try and figure how to put it back together again. I love you so much. :'-)
