Obituary

David Estrada Sr. November 6, 1938 - March 5, 2017

David Estrada, 78, of Groves passed away at his home on Sunday, March 5, 2017.

He was born on November 16, 1938 in Port Arthur, Texas. David was a 1958 graduate

of Thomas Jefferson High School and proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy on the USS Hancock from 1960-1964. He retired from Valero in 2015 as a machinist after 45 years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Juan A. Estrada, Sr.; his mother, Esther (Herrera) Goulis; brothers, Henry and Alex Estrada and his sister, Olga Mae Flores.

Those left to cherish David’s memory are his wife, Tommie Estrada of Groves, TX; daughter, Angela Estrada-Sewell and her husband, Cody of Baton Rouge, LA; son,

David Estrada, Jr. of Austin, TX; stepdaughter, Tommie Lynn LeJune of Pearland, TX;

stepson, Tres Moreno of Houston, TX; three granddaughters, three step-grandchildren and brother, John “Bootsie” Estrada of Groves, TX.

David is also left behind by many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and countless lifelong friends who touched his life.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6:30 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Port Arthur. Rev. Urbano Sáenz Ramírez will serve as celebrant. Full Military Honors will follow the mass at church.

Arrangements for cremation are entrusted to Clayton Thompson Funeral Directors.

In Lieu of Flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made to the Scholarships Fund at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 3648 S/Sgt. Lucian Adams Drive, Port Arthur, TX 77642.
