Gary Dean Branson July 27, 1931 - June 28, 2017

GARY DEAN BRANSON

Gary Dean Branson passed away June 28, 2017 in Forney, Texas at the age of 85. Gary was born July 27, 1931 to Albert & Esther Branson in Port Arthur, Texas. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in June 1950 and then attended the University of North Texas. He went to work at Gulf Refinery in 1952 and retired as an accountant in 1988 with Chevron. Gary also served in the Korean War.

Gary and his wife, Pat moved to Crandall, Texas in 2001 to be near his grandchildren who gave him the greatest joy. Gary served for 10 years as President of Chevron Retirees North Central Texas Chapter. Gary enjoyed traveling and recording music.

Gary was preceded in death by his mother & father, Esther & Albert Branson. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Pat, and his daughter Dana Girouard & husband Mark. He is survived by three grandchildren; Cassie, Gabbi and Zack Girouard; one great-grandson Grayson Wayne Ballard. He is also survived by one sister, Betty Couch of Palestine, Texas along with several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you for the care given to Gary at Ridgecrest Nursing Home in Forney for the last 2 ½ years and most recently to the Community Hospice of Texas.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, July 3, 2017 at Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home in Kaufman, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2017 in Greenlawn Cemetery in the Mausoleum in Port Arthur, Texas, under the direction of Clayton Thompson Funeral Home.
