Gary Lee Branch December 14, 1944 - July 4, 2017

Gary Lee Branch, 72, of Groves passed away on Tuesday, July 04, 2017 at Mid-Jefferson Extended Care Hospital in Nederland.

Gary was born on December 14, 1944 in Port Arthur, Texas to parents Lt. Lee Asbury Branch and Pearl Elise Viator. He was a lifelong resident of Groves and he served his county in the US Air Force during the Vietnam Era (1963 – 1967). Gary retired from Gulf / Chevron Oil Refinery as a shift supervisor. He enjoyed coaching Groves Girls Softball and caring for their fields, going fishing, hunting and building and flying his RC air planes. Gary was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, who will be miss dearly.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lt. Lee Asbury Branch; mother, Pearl Elise Mora.

Gary is survived by his wife of 52 years, Alice Caston Branch of Groves, TX; his daughters, Kellie Weber and husband, John of Taylor Landing, TX, Kristie Hairston and husband, Morris of Timpson, TX, Amber Herrera and husband, Jason of Groves, TX; brother, James L. Mora and wife, Mary of Aurora, CO; sister, Patricia Mora of Denver, CO, brother and sister in law, David and Amanda Caston of Kingdom of Bahrain. Also those left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Jacob Weber, Katlyn McKeever and husband, Brian, Michael Weber and wife, Cierra, Marissa Weber, Julia Vincent, Logan Vincent, Lauren Vincent, Morgan Lewallen, Jase Herrera, Alisanne Herrera, Jennifer Faul and a host of friends.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017 from 6 PM until 8 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. Cremation arrangements were entrusted by the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Go Fund Me Account, KristieBranchHairstonMDAnnderson, to help with Kristie’s (Gary’s daughter) hospital expenses, which she will incur during her battle with cancer.

It is always sad to loose a classmate. Gary graduated a year behind me but, we were all friends. He was a very nice kid. A large but, gentle Indian warrior. My sincere condolences to all of his family.
