Carmen O. Escobedo November 7, 1935 - October 6, 2017

Carmen Ortega Escobedo, 81, of Port Arthur passed away peacefully on Friday, October 6, 2017 in Bridge City.

Carmen was born on November 7, 1935 in Port Arthur, Texas to parents Soledad (Hernandez) and Felipe Ortega. She was a lifelong resident of Port Arthur and was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She had worked for Greer Law Firm as a paralegal for many years. Carmen was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend who will be missed dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, Joe Escobedo Jr.; her brothers, Felo Ortega, Tony Ortega, Richard Ortega and her sisters, Lola "Delores" Soliz, Annie Ortega, Rita Garcia.

Those left to cherish Carmen's memory are her children, Soledad "Solly" Escobedo of Port Arthur, Anna M. Escobedo Encinas and her husband, Michael of Los Angeles, CA, Gina Escobedo Gallet and her husband, Randal of Bridge City, Joe "Mano" Escobedo and his wife Karen of Port Arthur, and Ruben V. Escobedo of Port Arthur. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Raina V., Reya P., Rafa K.; sister in law, Mary Ortega of Beaumont and numerous nieces and nephews

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 5 pm until 8 pm at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, with a rosary to be prayed at 6 pm at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am at St. James Catholic Church, celebrant will be Rev. David Edwards. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
