Carol E. Johnston, 72, of Port Neches passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur.

She was born on November 7, 1944 to her parents, Joe Sferruzzi and Susan Ailes Sferuzzi in Indianapolis, IN. Carol has been a resident of the area since 1966. She worked as office manager at Hall McSween Canvas Company for over 20 years. Carol was a loving and caring mother to 9 children. Among her many interest were hunting and fishing, especially sport fishing. She enjoyed going dancing at the singles club and her many trips to the casino’s.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, John Durman and her daughter, Kathleen Durman.

Carol is survived by her children, Debra Warner of Beaumont, Tami Lawler and husband, David of Vidor, Sherra Moore and husband, Brian of Port Neches, Bernard Durman and wife, Sheryl of Port Arthur, Jimmy Johnston and wife, Pam of Baytown, Kimberly Harrington and husband, Brett of Nederland, Phillip Durman of Beaumont along with 18 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren with three on the way. She is also survived by her sister, Susan Sferruzzi McCardle of Indiana as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 2 PM till 3 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Director in Groves. A celebration of life service to honor Carol’s life will be at 3:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Kim Therrien, officiating. Arrangements for cremation are entrusted to Clayton Thompson Funeral Home.

I miss you so much, Grandma Carol! I'm betting none of this foul stuff would've happened to my husband, Robert Durman, or our daughter, Starla Durman, if you were still alive! You always stood up for what is right, even when Robert and I were arguing. You made us laugh so much, and I wish you could've seen Robert and my granddaughter, Aaliyah Durman. You would've loved her, she has blonde ringlets and big blue eyes and is a female version of her daddy, lil Robert.

Aunt Carol you will be greatly missed!! We had a wonderful time growing up together. We were more like sisters, than Aunt, and Niece. I will always love you. You will always be with me. You were a wonderful mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to so many people!!!
