Thomas "Tom" Jefferson Henderson June 1, 1927 - December 11, 2017

Thomas "Tom" Jefferson Henderson, 90, of Port Arthur passed away om Monday, December 11, 2017 at his daughter's home in LaGrange, Texas.

He was born on June 1, 1927 to his parents, J. E. Henderson and Mary Woods Henderson in Doucette, Texas.  Tom served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He retired from Texaco as Computer Room Supervisor after 36 years. Tom served on City Council for the City of Port Arthur for 17 years; he also served as Mayor Pro-Tem. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Port Arthur.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings and his son, Thomas Lynn Henderson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Peggy Rising Henderson of Port Arthur, his daughter, Lodie Marie Massey and husband, Jack of LaGrange, Texas, his son, Thomas Glen Henderson of Port Arthur, his four grandchildren, Dr. Jessica Holt and husband, Dr. Todd Holt, T. H. “Beau” Bunce and wife, Meagan, Starsha Marie Henderson, and  T. J. Henderson, four great grandchildren, Hunter Sawyer , Colton Sawyer, Jackson Holt and Masen Henderson.

Visitation will be on Friday, December 15, 2017 from 9:30 AM till 11:00 AM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Service to honor Tom’s life will be at 11:00 AM Friday in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Clayton Thompson.
