Myrtis Dyson Thompson October 16, 1927 - December 24, 2017

Myrtis Dyson Thompson, 90 years old, formerly of Port Neches, Tx died Sunday, December 24, 2017 at Woodville Health and Rehabilitation Nursing Home, Woodville, Tx.

Myrtis was born to Eraste & Leah LeBlanc Dyson on October 16, 1927 at Cheniere au Tigre, La. Myrtis was the youngest of nine children.

Myrtis married Chester Thompson in June 1947. They had five children. She retired from Port Neches School District where she had many friends. Myrtis was a member of Ridgewood Baptist Church.

Myrtis was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons Tommy and Gary Thompson, daughter Debbie Saide, son-in-law Ronnie Saide and grandson Randall Steele, her 5 sisters and 3 brothers.

Survivors include daughter Evelyn (Larry) Hays of Denham Springs, LA, son Bill (Cindy) Thompson of Colmesneil, TX. Eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, sisters in law Mercedes Cholette and Mirley Trahan and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 9:00 AM till 11:00 AM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Service to honor Myrtis’s life will be at 11:00 AM in the Clayton Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson with Rev. Dustin Guidry, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens in Nederland.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Harbor Hospice of Jasper, TX., the Alzeheimer’s Association, Ridgewood Baptist Church of Port Arthur, TX. In memory of Myrtis.

You are one of a kinda Maw Maw! You will be in my thoughts every day of the rest of my life. I cannot wait to see you one day again and be able to have conversations with you again.
