Shirley Marie Welch October 30, 1936 - March 7, 2018

Shirley Marie Welch, 81, of Groves passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur.

She was born on October 30, 1936 to her parents, Edward Morgan and Celina Lombus Morgan in Morgan City, Louisiana. Shirley was a resident of the Port Arthur/Groves area for over 53 years. She was a retired cook at Thomas Edison Middle School in the Port Arthur Independent School District with 20 years of service. Shirley was a longtime member of Gulf Avenue Church of Christ in Groves.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Norbert Welch.

Shirley is survived by her five sons, Jimmy Welch and wife, Donna of Nederland, Michael Welch and wife, Darlene of Port Neches, Kenny Welch and wife, Sandy of Groves, Scott Welch and wife, JoNell of Groves, Jeff Welch and wife, Shelly of Groves. She leaves her 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren to cherish her memory.

Visitation will be on Friday, March 9, 2018 from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Service to honor Shirley’s life will be celebrated at 1:00 PM Saturday, March 10, 2018 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson with Joseph Lee, officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
