Louis Solis, Jr.

Louis Solis, Jr., of Nederland, Texas passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on January 9, 1940 to his parents, Luis Solis, Sr. and Emilia Diaz de Leon Solis in Port Arthur, Texas. Louis was a lifelong resident of the area. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Louis was a lifelong musician, playing with his brother, Ray Solis at the Pompano Club for many years. They played at several other venues. He owned and operated a TV Repair shop, worked at family business, Hernandez and Solis Inc. His last place of employment was with Lowes until he retired due to his illness. Louis was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council #12809 Our Lady of Guadalupe. He lived life always wanting to help others and was a lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Esteban Solis.

Louis is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Mollie Price Solis of Nederland, his two sons, David Solis of Groves, Benjamin Solis and wife, Rikki of Port Neches, his two daughters, Dayna Chipman and husband, Greg of Groves, Jennifer Whittington and fiancé, Brett Day of Groves along with 10 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Rosalie Sharkie of Houston and his brother, Ramon “Ray” Solis and wife, Angel of Port Arthur, his sister-in-law, Sherrlyn Solis of Port Arthur as well as several nieces and nephews and dear friend, Jeanette Dalfrey.

Visitation will be on Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6:30 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Service to honor Louis’s life will be celebrated at 2:00 PM Sunday, June 10, 2018 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson. Military Funeral Honors will be performed at the Funeral Home. Arrangements for cremation are entrusted to Clayton Thompson. Inurnment will be at a later date in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
