Wilbur Joseph Benoit, Jr., 70, of Bridge City passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 surrounded by his loved ones.
Wilbur was born on July 19, 1948 in Port Arthur, Texas to parents, Betty Joyce (Carlin) and Wilbur Joseph Benoit Sr. He served in the US Army from October 1966 until October 1969. Wilbur worked as a carpenter for Texaco Oil Refinery and had worked construction. He had lived in the Bridge City area for 30 years and was a member of St. Henry's Catholic Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, going to the beach, going to the lake, and did some hunting in his younger years. Wilbur loved to cook for his family and friends, who will dearly miss him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son in 2014, Rodney Joseph Benoit.
Wilbur is survived by his wife of 51 years, Silvia Bourque Benoit of Bridge City, brother, Danny Benoit of Houston, sister, Bonnie Benoit of Houston, his brother in laws, Gramps "Jack" Huffman and wife Debra "Dee Dee" of Orange, Donald Bourque and his wife, Ginger of Mauriceville, KK "Kelvin" Bourque, Mike Bourque. He is also survived by his nephews, Wacey “Mel” Bourque, Trey Huffman and his wife, Rachel, great nephews, Ryder Huffman, Carter Foreman, Marcus Bourque, Mitchell Bourque, Grady Bourque and the family's beloved dog, Reggie.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2019 from 5 pm until 8 pm at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, with a rosary to be prayed at 7 PM at the funeral home. A 10 AM funeral service will be held on Friday, June 21, 2019 at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, celebrant will be Rev. Kevin Badeaux. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
