Shirley Jean Hurd

Shirley Jean Hurd, 82, of Port Arthur passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at the Community Retirement Home.

Shirley was born on February 20, 1937 in Sweetwater, Texas to parents Mary Jeanette (Linn) and Thomas Edward Massey. She had lived several years in the Port Arthur area: prior in Sabine Pass and was member of Sabine Pass Methodist Church. Shirley was active in her community in her younger years, member of the Lioness Club of Sabine Pass and was on the School Board of Sabine Pass for several years. She enjoyed sewing, working in her garden, doing crafts and traveling. Shirley was a loving person who will be missed dearly by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Tommy Massey, and her husband, Ronald E. Hurd.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Cindy Parish and her husband, Dale of Orange, her son, Leslee Hurd and his wife, Melissa of Nederland, five grandchildren Russell, Carrie, Athena, Dravyn, Riddick, two great grandchildren and her sister, Dee McMillon.

A visitation will be held on Monday, June 3, 2019 from 5 PM until 8 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. Service to honor Shirley’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at 10:00 AM in Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, with Reverend Randy Carrion officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
