Sharon Sue Gilkerson

Sharon Sue Bromley Gilkerson, 59, of Buna passed away on Friday, January 1, 2021 at Yoakum Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Yoakum, Texas.

She was born on April 23, 1961 in Port Arthur, Texas to her parents, Daniel Joseph Bromley and Eunice Halter Bromley. Sharon lived most of her life in Buna, where she worked as a bus driver and worked in the cafeteria for Buna ISD. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1979 and attended University of Texas in Austin for one year.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Sharon is survived by her two sons, Chadrick “Chad” Gilkerson and his fiancée, Karrie Goodwin of Newton, TX.; Daniel Gilkerson and his wife, Rian of St. Louis, MO. She is also survived by her brother, Gary Bromley of Zavalla, TX.

Visitation will be on Friday, January 8, 2021 from Noon until service time at 1:00 PM. A memorial service to honor Sharon’s life will be at 1:00 PM Friday in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Arrangements for cremation are entrusted to Clayton Thompson. Entombment of her ashes will be at a later date in Greenlawn Memorial Park .  Due to Covid-19 crisis we are currently in, all visitors are required to wear a face mask or face covering and practice social distancing as mandated by the state and county officials.
