Ruth Ann Fischer

Ruth Ann Fischer, 99, of Groves passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at her home.

She was born on April 2, 1921 in Port Arthur, Texas to her parents, Avery Gant and Annie Toups Gant. Ruth was a longtime resident of the Groves area. She was a devoted homemaker in raising her two sons, Hank and Keith along with her husband, Hilton. Ruth was a member of Immaculate Conception/St. Peter Catholic Church in Groves.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Bob and Roland Gant, her husband, Hilton Fischer, her son, Keith Fischer, her daughter-in-law, Delores Fischer and grandson, Sterling Fischer.

She is survived by her son, Hank Fischer of Houston, her daughter-in-law, Brenda Fischer of Groves, her five grandchildren, Kirwin Fischer (Mary), Shawn Fischer, Stephanie Cobb (Trent), Bridgett Cobb (Collin) and Crystal Slaughter (Wayne) along with 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Harold Gant and his wife, Kathryn of Georgetown, Texas.

Graveside service will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves under the direction of Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Jesus Mausoleum. Due to the Covid 19 crisis we are currently in, all visitors to the service must wear a face mask or covering and practice social distancing as mandated by the State and County officials.
