Robert Erving Hanson, 89, of Bridge City, Texas passed away on Friday, October 9, 2020 at Beaumont Health Care Center.
He was born on January 6, 1931 in Moss Point, Mississippi to his parents, John N. Hanson and Abby Marie Clark Hanson. Robert has been a resident of the area for over 60 years. Robert served his country in the US Navy for 4 years 10months, 36 days; he was a welder helper on boat unit two. He retired from McGregor Leasing, manager of the former Gateway Bowling Center in Beaumont. He loved to go fishing, golfing and he was owner and operator of a minnow’s business selling them to local businesses.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his two sons, Bobby Hanson and Wayne Hanson, and his step-great grandson, Corbin Lowe.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Mildred “Maye” Hanson of Bridge City; his daughters, Rebecca “Becky” Holbrook and her husband, Ty of Lumberton, Donna McKeon of Lumberton; his son, Mike Hanson of Lumberton; his three step-daughters, Kathy Viator and her husband, Victor of Bridge City, Brenda Duhon and her husband, Mike of Kaufman, Texas, Glenda Soileau and her husband, Gary of Hemphill, Texas; his step-son, Rayford McCleland and his wife, Christian of Montana. He leaves his grandchildren, Darrell Lowe, Jeremy Lowe, Ashley Crews and her husband, Kyle, Dalton Holbrook, Jaden Holbrook, Michael Hatley, Kristina Jordan, Aaron McKoen, Matthew Begley, Bobby Duhon, Jason Duhon, Anthony Trahan, Chris Hanson, April Phelps and Regina Trahan as well as others. His great grandchildren are Jarroth Lang, Jackson Crews, Owen Crews, Kacelyn Phelps, Sable Phelps and Skyler Phelps. He also leaves his sister, Maria Hanson of Austin and his brother, J. C. Hanson of Mississippi along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 from 6:00 PM till 7:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Service to honor Robert’s life will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 14, 2020 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson.
Burial will follow in Memory Gardens in Nederland. Due to the Covid-19 crisis we are currently in, all visitors are required to wear face mask or coverings and practice social distancing as mandated by the state and county officials.
