Loretta Katherine Blanton, 92, of Port Arthur passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas.
She was born on February 19, 1928 in Hominy, Oklahoma to her parents, Hoy Crabtree and Susie Smith Crabtree. Loretta was a resident of the area for over 75 years and was employed as a sales clerk at Woolco Department Store.
Loretta was a devoted member of St. John’s Methodist Church and spent many enjoyable mornings in the company of “the lunch bunch. “ She loved and excelled at crafting and usually had a project going for every holiday. She was a gifted crocheter and was especially well known for her crocheted names.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Edward Martin Blanton.
Loretta is survived by her two sons, Hoy Blanton and his wife, Becky of Port Arthur; Linnis Blanton and his wife, Duyen of Nederland along with one granddaughter, Franya Blanton of Nederland. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 from 10 AM till 11 AM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Service to honor Loretta’s life will follow at 11 AM Wednesday in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens. Due to the Covid-19 crisis we are currently in, all visitors are required to wear face mask or coverings and practice social distancing as mandated by state and county officials.
