Lezy “Lee” Manuel Jr., 97, of Groves passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont surrounded by his love ones.
Lee was born on March 26, 1925 in Ville Platte, Louisiana to parents Acdueline (Veillon) and Lezy Manuel Sr. He had lived in the Groves area since 1969 and was a member of Immaculate Conception/St. Peter Catholic Church in Groves. Lee was a veteran serving his country in the Army and Merchant Marine. He was a mechanical engineer working at several oil refineries. Lee enjoyed working in the yard, was a Cowboys fan, an avid reader and enjoyed playing chess. Lee was a very social person, having coffee and visiting with his friends and he loved spending time with his family.
Lee is survived by the love of his life, Ruby Manuel of Groves, his children, Phyllis Vincent and her husband, Ernest of Port Neches, Annette Harrell and her husband, Kenneth of Beaumont, Donna Manuel of Port Neches, Cindy Kessel and her husband, Mike of Orange, John Manuel and his wife, Mindy of Port Neches. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Nicholas Black of Spring Hill, TN, Kristina Manuel of Groves, Sarah Nichols of Bridge City, Olivia Kessel of Orange and great grandchild, Charlotte Nichols.
Gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022 from 12:00 PM until 1:30 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, with a rosary to be prayed at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. A 2:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Immaculate Conception/ St. Peter Catholic Church in Groves, celebrant will be Rev. J. C. Coon. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
Honoring Lee as pallbearers will be John Manuel, Ernest Vincent, Kenneth Harrell, Michael Kessel, Joey Nichols, and Nicholas Black.
