Leroy Joseph Broussard, 89, of Groves passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on February 10, 1933 in Castille, Louisiana to Julian Broussard and Helen Meche Broussard. Leroy was a resident of the area for 65 years. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Leroy retired from the City of Port Arthur as an Electrical Superintendent after 25 years of service. He was a longtime member of the Golden Triangle Cajun Association, where he cooked at many festivals in the area. Leroy was a longtime member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Port Arthur.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings.
Leroy is survived by his loving wife, Gloria Broussard of Groves; daughter, Denise Hatchel and husband Ralph of Nederland; two grandchildren, Jameson Waggoner and wife Erica, Jessica McGilton and husband Brandon; two great granddaughters, Emma Waggoner and Madi Hutchison. He is also survived by his brother, Clifton Broussard, Sr. of Westlake, Louisiana along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Friday, February 25, 2022 from 9:00 AM till 11:00 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church with a rosary to be recited at 10:15 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Friday at the church with Rev. Constantino Barrera serving as celebrant. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Clayton Thompson Funeral Directors.
