JOYCE LEE “TUNIE” STANSBURY

Joyce Lee “Tunie” Lundy Stansbury, 92, of Port Neches, Texas, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at Forever Young Home in Groves, Texas.

Born on July 16, 1930, in Baytown, Texas, to Sam and Mildred Comeaux Lundy.  She graduated in 1948 from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, Texas.  On June 25, 1949, she married Ulric F. “Snook” Stansbury in Baytown, Texas, and they moved to Port Arthur, Texas.  She was a resident of Port Arthur until 1989 when she moved to Port Neches.

Tunie attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Port Arthur and was a former member of St. James Catholic Church in Port Arthur.  She enjoyed playing cards, traveling, sewing and spending time with her family and friends.  She was a thoughtful, friendly person who will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, daughter, sister and friend to many.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Ulric F. “Snook” Stansbury; her parents; infant son, Dale F. Stansbury; and three (3) sisters:  Willia Mae Wells, Barbara Nelson, and Samuela “Sammy” Courville.  Survivors include:  4 daughters and a son:  Gayle Hollar and husband Wally of Groves; Jeanne Marie Rachal and husband James of Richmond, Texas; Judy LeJune of Port Neches; Ginger Carnright and husband Richard, Jr., of Austin, Texas; son, Ricky Stansbury, and wife Cheryl of Port Neches.  She is also survived by 9 grandchildren:  Michelle Ricks, Lee Rachal, Vanessa Rachal Johnson, Lori East, Carolyn Hale, Tyler Kimball, Justin Cooner, Richard Carnright, III, and Jason Carnright; and 9 great-grandchildren:  Jace, Jayla, Jason “JJ” Jr., Daelyn, Cade, Kinsley, Everett, Stevie, and Vera; and 1 great-great-grandchild:  Aiden; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Services will be held on Sunday, April 16, 2023; visitation will be between 1-2 pm, funeral service with begin at 2:00 pm, followed by a rosary at Clayton-Thompson Funeral Home, 5200 W. Parkway Street, Groves, Texas. Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Forever Young Home, LLC, 2631 Rose Lane, Groves, Texas.

Serving as Pallbearers will be:  Justin Cooner, Lee Rachel, Christian Johnson, Richard Carnright, III, Jason Carnright, and Jace Edgar.
