Joyce Marie Duvall

Joyce was born January 22, 1935 in Pineland, Texas to parents Velma Lee (Clark) and Dallas Langston Whitehead. She lived most of her life in the Groves area and was a member of Gulf Avenue Church of Christ.  Joyce was a very active woman:  she enjoyed hunting and fishing and she loved to cook for family and friends; in her younger days, she played and coached softball, she rode horses and she operated her own beauty shop; she worked alongside her husband on their farm where she maintained a big garden, fed the cows, mended fences, and helped to bail hay.  Joyce was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Dallas and Velma Whitehead, her husband, William Allen Duvall Sr., her twin brother, Royce Whitehead, her sisters, Donna Lee Jones, Bobbie Lucille Kirkland, her grandson, Lucas D. Aubrey.

Joyce is survived by her son, William Allen Duvall Jr. and his wife, Karen of Groves, her daughters, Jan Marie Blackwell of Groves, Kim Noreen Blackwell of Groves, her sister, Mary Beth Alford of Nederland. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jillian Craft, Jeremy Duvall, Amanda Blackwell, Seth Blackwell and ten great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

A 2:00 PM funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 in Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, with a gathering of family and friends will be held from 12:00 PM until service time. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
