Jose A. Garcia, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on February 26, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on October 2, 1938, in Port Arthur, Texas, he was a man whose life was marked by devotion to his family and a commendable service in the Marine Corps.
He is survived by his daughter, Justina "Tina" Moreau, and her fiancé, David Shepherd, of Nederland; and his son, Joe A. Garcia II, along with his girlfriend, Kandi Davalos, also of Nederland. His first wife and mother of his children, Olivia Porras. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Judd Barron II and his wife Stephanie, Curtis Benoit II, Jolie Garcia, Anthony Garcia and his wife Ali, Lent Garcia, and Millie Garcia. Additionally, Jose is remembered fondly by his great-grandchildren: Hunter Barron, Jase Barron, Iris Benoit, Samuel Garcia, Shelly Garcia, Ava Garcia and Remi Garcia.
Jose was born into a large family and is survived by his brothers, Phillip Garcia, Jesse Garcia and wife Alice, Richard Garcia, and Andrew Garcia and wife Alice. He is also survived by his sisters, Gloria Reyes, Mary Alice Llanes, and Hope Herrera, who cherish the memories of their time together.
He was preceded in death by his late wife, Rosalva Garcia, whom he loved dearly. Jose was also preceded by his parents, Carman and Justina Garcia; his son, Roland Garcia; and his brothers, Lupe Garcia, Henry Garcia, Frank Garcia, and George Garcia.
Throughout his life, Jose found immense joy in spending time with his family, which was the central focus of his world. His love for them shaped his everyday experiences and created a warm and welcoming environment filled with laughter and love.
A visitation will be held in honor of Jose on March 8, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a Rosary from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, leading into the Funeral Service from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Clayton - Thompson Funeral Directors, located at 5200 W. Parkway, Groves, TX 77619.
Jose A. Garcia will be remembered as a devoted family man, a proud veteran, and a friend to many. His spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know him.
