John Herman Breiten, 95, of Silsbee, formerly of Port Arthur, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2020 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
John was born on April 13, 1925 in Oglesby, Texas to parents Frances (Leos) and Joe Breiten. He had lived most of his life in the Port Arthur and Groves area; he had moved to Silsbee after Hurricane Rita to be closer to family. John was a Navy Veteran of WWII and was very proud of his serve to his country. He was a carpenter by trade and he enjoyed woodworking, make toolboxes and little trinkets, and working in the yard. John was a loving man who will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Annie Garcia and his brother, Joseph Breiten.
John is survived by his brothers, Albert Breiten of Merced, CA, William Breiten of Waco, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at 11:30 AM at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, with Military Honors by Southeast Texas Veteran Service Group. Arrangements were entrusted to Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Those wishing to attend the graveside service will be required to wear a mask and practice social distancing due to the COVID-19 crisis.
