Jennings Eldridge

Jennings Eldridge, joined his beloved wife, Doris Eldridge, in the arms of their loving Savior on Friday, June 18, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.

The second of five children born to Henry and Emma Eldridge, Jennings made his entrance into his earthly home on May 22, 1929, in Port Barre, Louisiana. He lived in Sabine Pass, Texas most of his life. As a young man he always wanted to be a cowboy and he fulfilled that dream. He worked hard to provide for his family in numerous occupations such as owning his own trucking company with his son, working many years with his brother, Gabby, at Eldridge Construction, breeding, raising, and training horses, maintenance of an oil rig in the Gulf, as an operating engineer in the refinery and farming. He loved his family, was a hard worker, member of the Sabine Pass United Methodist Church and a true cowboy.

He was proceeded in death by his wife of 70+ years, Doris Eldridge, his parents, his sisters, Beulah Bellaire, Bonnie Gray, Clara Belle Eldridge and his brother R.L. (Gabby) Eldridge.

He is survived by his children Jenny Kelley and husband Danny of Magnolia, TX, Paula Fairchild and husband Lou of Sabine Pass, TX, Curtis Eldridge and wife Leslie of Port Neches, TX, Vicky Carley and husband Phil of Canyon Lake, TX and Amanda Wass and her fiancé Glenn Soileau of Bellville, TX. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jeff Kelley, Christi Myford, Cliff Pfeffer, Justin Anderson, Chrissy Nuccio, Mia Brown, Cody Eldridge and Jolie Wass and great grandchildren JD Kelley, Seth and Mary Paige Myford, Bryce, Dustin and Meagan Pfeffer, Bree and Jaycee Walker, Cort Benson, Cade, Caleb and Karlie Brown, Sierra, Wyatt and Morgan Nuccio and Emerson Eldridge. He is also survived by his sister Dudie Ezell, and many nieces, nephews, a host of friends, and Grand dog, Dexter (known as Pot Licker).

Services will be at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, 5200 39 th Street, Groves, Texas 77619.

Visitation: Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at 6:00-8:00 pm.

Funeral Service: Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at 9:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to: Hospice Brazos Valley

A Celebration of Life for Jennings and Doris Eldridge will be held at Sabine Pass Community Center following the graveside service.
