Jean Marilyn Hollingsworth

July 5, 1937 — October 6, 2020

Jean Marilyn Franger Hollingsworth, 83, of Port Neches passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on July 5, 1937 in Kenedy, Texas to her parents, Alfred L. Franger and Alice Kolinek Franger. Jean has been a resident of the area for over 60 years. She earned her nursing degree from UTMB in Galveston. Jean was a registered nurse before devoting her time to raising her five children with her husband, Jim. After years of being a member of St. James Catholic Church in Port Arthur, she became a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches. Jean was always up for an adventure, camping, hunting, fishing, gardening, bus trips, going to the beach, bird watching and dancing.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Al Franger, her husband, Dr. Jim Hollingsworth, her son-in-law, James Rhoden and her granddaughter, Marilyn Lionberger.

She is survived by her three daughters, Julie Rhoden of Nederland; Jane Lionberger and her husband, Philip of Austin; Jo Hebert and her husband, Robert of LaVernia; her two sons, James Hollingsworth and his wife, Mary of Greensboro, North Carolina; John Hollingsworth and his wife, Michele of Plano; her fifteen grandchildren, Erika Hollingsworth, Naomi Collins (Dalton), Chelsea Barnhill (Kurt), Jimmy Hollingsworth, Brandon Shields, Kasey Shields, Janel Lionberger, Madeline Lionberger, A. J. Lionberger, John Lionberger, Trey Hebert (Aurora), Haley Hebert, Ian Hollingsworth, Graham Hollingsworth and Olivia Hollingsworth; her five great grandchildren, Ava Shields, Hudson Shields, Ila Shields, Amelia Collins and Judson Hebert. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Lynn Gauger of Wisconsin along with other family members.

Visitation will be on Friday, October 9, 2020 from 11:00 AM till 1:00 PM at St. James Catholic Church in Port Arthur with a rosary to be prayed at 12:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM Friday at St. James Catholic Church with Rev. David Edwards serving as celebrant. Burial will be on Monday, October 12, 2020 at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in San Antonio. Arrangements entrusted to Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Due to the Covid-19 crisis we are currently in, all visitors to the church must wear a face mask or covering and practice social distancing as mandated by the diocese, state and county officials.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. James Catholic Church or St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in the loving memory of Jean Hollingsworth.

Honoring Jean as pallbearers will be Philip Lionberger, Robert Hebert, Brandon Shields, A. J. Lionberger, John Lionberger, Trey Hebert, Ian Hollingsworth and Graham Hollingsworth.
