Frank “Big Zeke” Charles Rizzo, 88, of Groves passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Magnolia Manor in Groves.
Frank was born on September 12, 1932 in Port Arthur, Texas to parents Jo Anna (Calamia) and Joe Rizzo. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, afterward he joined the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Frank was a heavy equipment mechanic, working at Gulfport Shipyard for 20 plus years. After he retired he was known as the Bar-b-que Man at Market Basket for many years. He was also a member of Central Baptist Church and younger years he attended Trinity Baptist. Frank’s great pastime was working on cars and building model cars. He was a loving person who will be missed dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 2018, Tresa Delitha Rizzo and his five siblings.
Frank is survived by his son, Rev. Michael Rizzo and his wife, Linda of Port Arthur, his daughter, Sheryl Lynn Durman and her husband, Tony of Port Arthur. He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren, his 27 great grandchildren, his 6 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 22, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. in Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. A gathering of family and friends will be held prior to the service from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
Honoring Frank as pallbearers will be Joseph Rizzo, Wesley Young, Carlos Willis, Tony Durman, Caden Young, CJ Willis, CJ Swanzy and Joseph Rizzo Jr., Honorary pallbearer will be Herbert Simmons.
