Fleming Paul Menard, Sr., 82, of Buna and former resident of Port Arthur passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at his home.
He was born on August 15, 1937 to his parents, Ellwood Menard and Emillienne Harrington Menard in Cow Island, Louisiana. Fleming graduated from Bishop Byrne High School in Port Arthur, where he was a lifelong resident of the area. He retired from Carpenter’s Local #610 after more than 35 years. He also retired as Maintenance from St. James Catholic Church in Port Arthur. Fleming was a longtime member of St. James Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife and mother of their children, Veleta Menard in 1993 and his second wife, Dolores “Lola” Ybarra Menard in 2018.
Fleming is survived by his three daughters, Donna Gonzales and her husband, Fidel of Buna, Penny Menard and her spouse, Becky of Bossier City, Louisiana, Tina Ramirez and her husband, Aldo of Port Arthur, his son, Paul Menard and his wife, Sondra of Florida along with six grandchildren, Ann Webb, Fidel Gonzales, Jr., Chris Menard, Dana Hebert, Britany Ramirez and Krystal Moreno, 16 great grandchildren.
He is also survived by his two sisters, Betty Joyce Fontenot of Groves, Melinda Sue Upton of Austin, two brothers, Farrell Menard and his wife, Joyce of Nederland, Joseph Carlton Menard and his wife, Cathy of Spurger as well as several nieces and nephews.
Due to the Coronavirus-19 and the limited number of people at a gathering, the family will have a visitation and private graveside service at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. A memorial Mass may be held at a later date.
