Eva Jane Waldroup, entered heavens gates on Sunday, March 3rd, 2024 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Eva was born on August 28, 1951 to Joseph Reid Holloman and Wava Lee Holloman at St. Mary’s Hospital in Port Arthur, Texas.
It was her faith that helped her through the many challenges she had during her lifetime. Eva was a great role model to those who knew her. She loved without boundaries and cared deeply for others. If you had the honor of being loved by her, you knew it. Eva never met a stranger. She could and most times would strike up a conversation with anyone she came in contact with. When going for treatments, it was not uncommon to over hear Eva encouraging others. That’s just who she was.
Eva worked for several companies during her lifetime but the company and receptionist position she held with the Town of Longboat Key, FL was the one she enjoyed most. She became known as the “Friendly Southern Voice” of Longboat Key. Eva was also known for her delicious home-made cakes that she would always take to work every Monday. Both the Fire Chief and Chief of Police made it a point to stop by on Mondays grabbing a piece of one of her delicious cakes before it was all gone.
Eva loved flowers of all kinds especially Hibiscus. She and Donnie were members of the Hibiscus Society in Bradenton, FL for many years. Eva believed in helping others doing what she could, donating monetarily to several organizations: St. Jude’s and various Veterans organizations.
Eva is survived by her husband of 38 years: Donald (Donnie) Waldroup, her daughters: Stacy Beard Briggs, Jennifer Beard and partner Doylene, grand-children: Amber McFarlin Gonzales (George), Dustin McFarlin, and Larissa Desormeaux (Darren), 5 great-grandchildren (Autumn, Taven, Chris, Laiden and Asa), sisters: Gloria Brocato, Lauren Addy and Wanette West (Jim) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Reid Holloman, Wava Lee Holloman and sister Shannon Lee Beason.
A visitation will be on Saturday, August 24, 2024 from 2:00 PM till 3:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. A memorial service to honor Eva's life will be at 3:00 PM Saturday in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson with Pastor John Burke officiating.
In lieu of Flowers, please consider making a donation in Eva's memory to St. Jude Childrens Research hospital or to a charity of your choice.
