Edith Daisy Bowers, 68, of Groves passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas.
A native of Honduras and a resident of the area for 48 years, Daisy was the manager/operator of Villa Motel in Nederland for over 30 years. She was a member of Christian Fellowship Church in Port Neches.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Celia Matute Zapata, and her father, Jose Sanchez, along with her husband, Joe Bowers.
Daisy is survived by her daughter, Patricia Ortiz of Houston; her grandchildren, Ramiro Herrera, Jessica Herrera and Victoria Alvarenga; her five great grandchildren, Ronin Herrera, Lilliana Herrera, Angel Herrera, Isaiah Herrera and Daniel Herrera. She is also survived by her two sisters, Martha Wheeler of Houston, Sylvia Presley of Menifee, CA; her brothers, Alex Zapata of Port Arthur, David Duarte of Orange and Valentine Zapata of Nederland, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Monday, February 1, 2021 from Noon till 1:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Service to honor Daisy’s life will be at 1:30 PM Monday, February 1, 2021 at Memory Gardens in Nederland. Due to the Covid 19 crisis we are currently in, all visitors are required to wear a face mask or facial covering and practice social distancing as mandated by state and county officials.
