Don Daniel Guidry

Don Daniel Guidry, 90, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Pelican Bay Assisted Living Center in Beaumont.

He was born on July 23, 1932 in Port Arthur, Texas to Joseph Romual Guidry and Mary Sylvania Patin Guidry. Don was a longtime resident of Port Arthur before moving to Woodville with his wife, Juanita, where they lived for 34 years. After her passing, he moved to Beaumont to be closer to Juanita’s children. He was a natural born salesman and could sell anything. He spent most of his career as an insurance agent. Don also served in the US Army during the Korean War. His family remembers him as a fisher of men and a planter of seeds. God’s light shone bright through him. He was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Port Arthur.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his three brothers, E. B. Guidry, Carl Guidry and James Ray Guidry; his loving wife, Juanita Cushion Guidry; his daughter, Jeanette Bodin.

Don is survived by his daughters, Cathy Ayala of Port Arthur, Amy Reblin and husband Dennis of San Antonio; his sons, Mark Phillips of Port Arthur, Tommy Smith and wife Anna of Tyler, 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by his sister, Betty Payne of Woodville and his sister-in-law, Nettie Guidry of Groves, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Friday, March 31, 2023 from 10:00 AM till Noon at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Service to honor Don’s life will be at Noon Friday in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson with Rev. Gwen Welch officiating. Graveside service will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Woodville under the direction of Clayton Thompson.
