Delores Devillier

August 22, 1930 — July 29, 2024

Delores DeCoux DeVillier, born August 22, 1930, in Port Arthur, TX was called home to be with the Lord July 29, 2024. She passed away due to complications from an auto/pedestrian accident.

Delores was a loving and cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister, cousin, and a cherished friend to many.

As a child Delores attended St. James Catholic School in her elementary years to graduation in 1948. In her later years she attended Lamar Port Arthur College to sharpen her secretarial skills. Delores worked as a secretary for her father at DeCoux and Plessala Real Estate for several years. After having children she enjoyed working at a friend’s “Corn Cob Stand” at the Texas State Fair each year. Each fall she took a job working for the school district to earn extra money so she could spoil her family at Christmas. Through the years Delores volunteered with various organizations. She catered weddings for several years. She cared for her in laws in their later years in her home. She later became a personal care giver to the elderly. All of her life she cared for her extended family and friends, always putting the needs of other ahead of her own. She had a positive impact on all our lives.

Delores was a member for St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Port Arthur, Texas. She was a lifelong devout catholic with a strong devoted prayer life.

Delores was a world traveler to many Holy landmarks including Lourdes, Fatima, Medjugorje, Israel, the Vatican in Rome, Our Lady of Akita, Japan and many other places.

Delores was a woman of many skills and talents. She was a fabulous cook. She enjoyed preparing meals for her family, extended family and friends as well. She loved to entertain. A few of her other skills were seamstress, making a wedding dress, wedding veils and head pieces. She enjoyed making clothes for her children. She enjoyed crafts, hung wallpaper, stripped and finished furniture and cabinetry. In her later years she enjoyed family gatherings, genealogy and gardening.

Delores was the treasured wife of Darrell James DeVillier, Sr. for 57 years, who preceded her in death in 2007. Also preceding her in death are 2 sons, Chad Karlton DeVillier and Blaine Patrick DeVillier, her father Clarence DeCoux, mother, Florence Mary Landry DeCoux, brothers David DeCoux and wife Carmen, Leo DeCoux and wife Mary,  her sister Jeanette DeCoux Daigle and her brother-in-law Earl N. Hamilton, Sr.

Delores is survived by 5 children; Darrell James DeVillier, Jr., Mary Ann DeVillier-Hale, Julie Marie DeVillier-Cormier, Tod Leo DeVillier and wife Holly, and Christopher Rene DeVillier, two sisters Mary Ann DeCoux and Shirley DeCoux Hamilton, 9 grand children, 3 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be Saturday, August 31, 2024, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church 3706 Woodrow Dr. Port Arthur, Texas. A rosary is at 10:30am followed by a Catholic Mass of Christian Burial. A Celebration of Life will follow at Groves Activity Building 6150 39thSt. Groves, Texas 77619. A private burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery will be held at a later date.
