Mary Catherine (Cathy) Medford LeBlanc joined God and her husband in heaven on Saturday, March 5th, 2022. She was born October 6th, 1934 in Port Arthur, Texas to Ernest Medford and Mae Matulik. She attended Bishop Byrne High School in Port Arthur and was Drum Major her Junior and Senior year. She attended Lamar University and started her career at Gulf Oil Company working in IBM key punch card processing. On May 6 th , 1954 she married John David LeBlanc at St. James Catholic Church in Port Arthur. Her husband was in the Air Force and ended up stationed at Perrin Field Denison, Texas. She was the supervisor over IBM key punch in base operations and taught IBM key punch at the local business college in Sherman. She eventually transferred to the Internal Revenue Service where she ended her civil service career in 1978. In 1982 she founded LeBLanc Bookkeeping and Tax Service and retired in 2015.
Cathy was active in St. Mary’s Church and the Diocese of Dallas Diaconate program with her husband John who was the Rector of Deacon Formation from 1987 thru 2000. She served on the Sherman Boys Club Board of Directors for many years and was a member of The Sherman Service League.
Surviving are her sons Mickey LeBlanc and wife Cindy, and her primary caregiver Creig LeBlanc and Karen Brown. Grandchildren Aaron LeBlanc and wife Leslie, Christopher LeBlanc and wife Jessica, Erica LeBlanc Ortiz and husband Eddie, Adam LeBlanc and former daughter in law Chelsea LeBlanc. Great Grandchildren Avery, Aubrey, Chloe and Annistyn LeBlanc, Abbey Ortiz, Aaron Moore and Hazel LeBlanc. Many numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be as follows: Rosary and Family nite Thursday, March 10 th from 6-8 pm at Waldo Funeral Home Sherman Texas. Funeral mass Friday, March 11 th at St. Anne’s Catholic Church at 1:00 pm.
A second mass will be celebrated at St. James Catholic Church in Port Arthur, Texas on Monday, March 14 th at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 13 th from 5-8 PM with a Rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves, Texas. rosary will be recited at 6 pm the funeral home on Sunday, March 13 th . Entombment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, Texas.
