Blanca Alicia "Licha" Pompa

Blanca Alicia "Licha" Pompa, 74, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on April 4, 1950, in Palau, Coahuila, Mexico, Licha dedicated her life to her family and her work. She worked many years at Luby's Cafeteria before retiring from the Nederland Independent School District, where she served as a custodian.

Known for her unwavering work ethic, Licha approached every task with diligence and commitment. Her passion for family was evident in all she did. She raised her two sons, Juan Ignacio Elguezabal and Edgar Ulises Elguezabal, as a single mother, an accomplishment of which she was incredibly proud.

Licha's loving spirit extended to her role as a grandmother to six cherished grandchildren, Salma, Kaycia, Angelo, Artlette, Edgar Rosendo, and Emily Jazmyn. She enjoyed shopping and treasured the moments spent with her sisters, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and friends making each gathering a joyous occasion.

Blanca is survived by her sons, Juan Ignacio Elguezabal and his wife Sylvia of Port Arthur, Texas, and Edgar Ulisses Elguezabal and his wife Veronica of Port Neches, Texas. She also leaves behind her brothers, Jesus Gilberto Pompa and his wife Maria Luisa of Corpus Christi, Texas, Arnulfo Pompa and his wife Santa of Port Acres, Texas, Jose Homero Pompa and wife Graciela of Hamshire, Texas; Abelardo Pompa and his wife San Juana of Port Arthur, Texas, Carlos Pompa and his wife Carmen of Port Neches, Texas, and Osbaldo Pompa and his wife Sarai of Groves, Texas. Her beloved sister, Ludivina Delafuente of Port Arthur, Texas, along with a host of nieces and nephews, will dearly miss her presence.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Jose and Margarita Pompa; her son, Juan Ignacio Elguezabal; her sister, Dora Elia Trevino; and her brother, Rosendo "Randy" Pompa, and brother-in-law, Alfonso Delafuente.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Clayton-Thompson Funeral Home in Groves, Texas, followed by a Rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 9:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Port Arthur, Texas. Cremation services are under the direction of Clayton-Thompson Funeral Home.

Blanca Alicia "Licha" Pompa will be remembered for her compassion, strength, and love for her family. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched throughout her life.
