Betty Lou Hawkins

Betty Lou Goetschius Hawkins, 101 of New Braunfels and former resident of Port Arthur passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at Kirkwood Manor in New Braunfels.

She was born on May 21, 1922 in Galveston, Texas to Joseph T. Goetschius and Beatrice Robson Goeschius.  Betty was a longtime resident of Port Arthur before moving to New Braunfels in 2017 to be closer to her daughter, Susan.  She was a devoted homemaker in raising Susan along with her husband, Arthur. Betty was a member of Cross Lutheran Church in New Braunfels.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Joe T. Goetschius; her husband Arthur Edward Hawkins and grandson Richard A. Simmons.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Susan Brown and husband Ken of New Braunfels.

Private burial will be at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches under the direction of Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves.
