Leonard I. "Jelly Jaws" Richardson, 84, of Bridge City, Texas passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Cypress Glen Nursing Home. He was born on February 16, 1924 to Pearl Corkran Richardson and Abner B. Richardson in Kinder, Louisiana. He lived in the Port Arthur/Groves area for many years before moving to Mauriceville for many years and then settling in Bridge City. Leonard proudly served as a front line medic with the 28th Infantry division of the U. S. Army during WWII, he was involved in the Battle of the Bulge and the Normandy Invasion, he received five battle stars. He retired from Gulf Oil as a pipefitter after 36 ½ years of service and was affiliated with the O.C.A.W. Local 4-23 during that time. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Orange. He was preceded in death by his parents Abner and Pearl, his sisters Elsa and Edna Mae, his brothers Roy, Rodney and John along with his son-in-law Rick Nelson. He is survived by his loving wife Bonnie Richardson of Bridge City, Texas, his daughter Alma R. Nelson of Bridge City, Texas, his sons Wayne Richardson and his wife Libby of Clear Lake, Texas, Jimmy Richardson of Bridge City, Texas, grandchildren Karri Elaine Nelson, Richard Paul Nelson and his wife Miranda, Specialist Travis Lynn Nelson and his wife Hillary and Bonnie Michele Fields. He is also survived by his great grandchildren Kellynn Elaine Nelson and Kelina Nelson, his sister Ruth Inez David of Portsmith, Virginia and a special granddaughter Shiela Breaux as well as a special friend Mike Louvier, several nieces and nephews along with his precious companions and granddogs Sadie and Sophie as well as Kitty.
