Mary Baker Blanford Kennedy, 94, of LaBelle passed away on Thursday March 5, 2009 at her home. She was born June 3, 1914 to Catherine Pearl LaMar Baker and Van DeHaven Baker in Kentucky. She was the loving mother of Bettye, Gayle, Patricia and Charles. She was a resident of the area for over 57 years. She went back to college at age 50 and became a nurse. She worked at Community Home and Golden Triangle Nursing Home. She was a longtime member of St. Johns United Methodist Church in Port Acres. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Irving, Texas under the direction of Donnelly's Colonial Funeral Home in Irving, Texas. She was preceded in death by her first husband Charles Blanford and her second husband Don Kennedy along with two brothers Franklin and Thomas Baker. She is survived by her daughters Bettye Thomes and her husband Dick of Irving, Texas, Gayle Wolford of Carrollton, Texas and Patricia Blanford of Beaumont, Texas, her son Charles O. Blanford and his wife Peggy of Glen Heights, Texas, her eleven grandchildren that include Dusty Blanford and many great grandchildren,As well as her sister Rebecca Morgan of Michigan, several nieces and nephews and a special friend Johnny Spell. In lieu of flowers, Family request donations to be made to St. Johns United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 5048, Port Arthur, Texas, 77640 in memory of Mary.
