W.J. "Slim" Clark, 86 of Port Neches passed away at his residence on Sunday, March 8, 2009. He was born in Franklin, LA. on September 26, 1922 to Josephine and Marcel Clark. Slim was a resident of Port Neches for 43 years. He retired as Chief Engineer from Texaco Marine after 37 years of service. He served in the Merchant Marines in WW II and was a Prisoner of War for 2 1/2 years. Slim was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Slim is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Leon Clark, sisters, Lucille Ledet and Nellie LaPointe. He is survived by his loving wife Gladys Clark of 61 years, son, Kenneth Clark and wife Deb of Beaumont, TX., daughter, Carol Oliver and husband Chris of Groves, TX., his 3 grandchildren who called him Paw Paw, Shannon Carver and husband, Ric of Groves, TX., Shane Trahan and wife Melissa of Port Arthur, TX. and Allison Clark of Nederland, 4 great-grandchildren who called him Boom Paw, Stephanie Carver and Mason Carver of Groves, TX. and Keegan Trahan and Jaxson of Port Arthur, TX., brother, Sidney Clark of Nederland, TX., Albert Clark and wife Jeannie of Kountze TX., sisters Hazel Prejean of Bridge City, TX. and Marie LaPointe of Lake Charles, LA.
