Millard G. Fontenot, 84, of Groves, Texas passed away on Sunday March 15, 2009 at Christus St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur, Texas. He was born October 10, 1924 to Lucille Fontenot and Allanda Fontenot in Mamou, Louisiana. He has been a resident of the area since 1952. Millard served in the U. S. Navy aboard the Battleship Colorado during WWII, where he received the Purple Heart. He attended trade school to learn about electronics and especially TV repairs. He attended ICS Schools for Industrial Supervision. He also attended Lake Charles Business College. Millard was a member of the American Legion Post #7, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #797 and Disabled American Veterans. He was also a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Port Arthur. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Michael G. Fontenot. He is survived by his loving wife Betty Menard Fontenot of Groves, Texas, two granddaughters Sharice Fontenot and Michelle Fontenot both of Vidor, Texas, Step brother Darwin Andrepont of Fannett, Texas, Cousin Beverly McBride of Mamou, Louisiana. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Melinda C. Upton of Austin, Texas, brothers-in-law Farrell Menard and his wife Joyce Philen of Nederland, Texas, Fleming Menard and his wife Dolores of Port Arthur, Texas, Joseph C. Menard and his wife Kathy of Hillister, Texas along with many nieces and nephews and many friends associated with Central Baptist Church on Hwy. 73.
