Robert Holmes Custer

January 17, 1929 - March 23, 2009

Bob Custer, 80, formerly of Crystal Beach, passed away March 23, 2009 after a lengthy illness. He was born January 17, 1929 in Rock Springs, Texas. Bob Retired from Gulf Oil after 32 years of service. He has worked in St. Croix, Saudi Arabia, Alaska, Korea, Taiwan and Kuwait. He served during the Korean Conflict in the U. S. Army. Bob was a 32nd degree Mason from the Winnie Chapter. He was preceded in death by his parents Gilbert and Louise Custer and brother Jack Custer. He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Corinne Foster Custer; daughter Risa and husband E. J. McKay of Mauriceville, daughter Julie and husband Marcy Gonzales of Austin and daughter Mary Lou Marshall of Kerrville. He is also survived by stepsons Craig and wife Karen Stoever of Port Arthur and Kyle Stoever of New Orleans. Surviving grandchildren are Cade, Ethan and Erin McKay, Annah and Jacy Fisette, Andrea Gonzales and Derrick and Tiffany Stoever. In addition, Bob is survived by five great grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be Cade McKay, Ethan McKay, Derrick Stoever, Joe Kennedy, Pete Frederick and Bert DeCuir.
