Marian Kestler Wall, 48, died at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, on Friday, May 15, 2009. Marian was born in Port Arthur, Texas, on April 21, 1961, the youngest child of Marie and Jack Kestler. Marian attended Hughen School, and she graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and Lamar University. Despite the limitations that could have been imposed by osteogenisis imperfecta, Marian excelled at living life to the fullest. There was no limit to her energy, enthusiasm, and can do' spirit. Her community involvement included everything from volunteering at Mardi Gras to one of her favorite evenings--taking tickets at the annual Ducks Unlimited Banquet. Marian's friendliness, insight, and quick wit endeared her to everyone she met, and we all have at least one favorite Marian story' which include her viewpoints and observations based on our Southern heritage and frequent trips to Mississippi, her assessments of her favorite Handi-Capable' parking spaces at the mall, her razor sharp intellect, her love of a good cup of coffee, her affection for anything involving cats, her driving-"It's a red car with an ugly brown box on top; they should see me coming," and her ability to always have fun and laugh at the daily absurdities of life. Her latest, greatest adventures--moving to Dallas after finally landing her dream job, renting a loft apartment in an historic downtown building, getting married, and living life on her own terms, were the fulfillment of everything she learned and dreamed of while living in Port Arthur. Marian was always surrounded by the love and support of an amazing network of neighbors and friends who admired her independence and delighted in her company. When Marian arrived at the Pearly Gates, she probably declined St. Peter's offer to take a walk--"Why walk when you can roll??"asked for directions to the nearest Cajun restaurant"They'd better have Community coffee, gumbo, bread pudding with whiskey sauce, and Wayne Toups on the jukebox."stopped to rescue a kitten or two"Wanna ride, Precious?"and greeted her family and friends with a mischievous smile and irresistible invitation--"Laissez les bon temps rouller, ya'll!!" Marian is survived by her husband, Chuck Wall of Dallas; mother-in-law, Barbara Wall of Port Arthur; sister-in-law, Cheryn Wall, of Houston; father and step-mother, Jack and Billie Kestler of Houston; brother, Ed Kestler of Nederland; sister and favorite nephew/little brother, Janice and Jason McDonald of The Woodlands; aunt, Nellie Goodwin and family: Lynn, Tina, and Ryan Lombardo, of Beaumont, and Maggie Gradison, Gary, Chett, and Kyla Tiller, of Durham, North Carolina; and former neighbors/family from Procter Street, Lamar, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Carriage Place Apartments, Interurban Building and Center of Medicare and Medicaid Service.
