Theophile I. Milliet

August 8, 1917 - June 21, 2009

Theophile Isadore (Tim) Milliet was born August 18, 1917 in New Orleans, LA and passed away June 21, 2009 in the presence of his loving wife and their four surviving children. Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Theophile and Katherine Milliet, his sisters Marjorie Barbay and Rita Watson, two sons, Martin (Poncho) and Michael Tim Milliet, and grandchild Sarah Milliet. Tim is survived by Mable Milliet, his wife of 67 years, and his children, Marjorie Eglsaer and husband Richard of Huntsville, TX, Millie Schaer and friend Brian Streams of Blessing, TX, Mark Joseph Milliet of Dallas, TX, and Matthew Milliet and wife Dina of Denham Springs, LA. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, David Eglsaer of Glacier Park, Montana, Brian Eglsaer of Washington, D.C., Douglas Schaer of Huntsville, TX, Ryan Schaer of Wharton, TX, Michael Milliet of Atlanta, GA, Shane Milliet of Port Lavaca, TX, and Zachary, Benjamin, Maegan, Eric, and Mitchell Milliet of Denham Springs, LA, and a great grandchild Matthew Schaer of Willis, TX. Tim, a celestial navigator during World War II, spent most of his professional life as a maritime dredging engineer. During his illustrious career, he worked with such firms as Standard Dredging of Galveston, Bauer Dredging of Port Lavaca, and Gulfport Ship Building of Port Arthur, culminating in the establishment of LSM, Inc., an engineering consulting firm. He was involved in the building of the Intracoastal Canal along with many other critical waterways and ports. He moved to Port Arthur in 1967 to build the world's most powerful dredge, the Triton. Affectionately known as "Do" to his family and as "Mayor of Eugenia" to his neighbors, Tim was a fixture to all who needed help and a fishing buddy to many. He was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. In lieu of the normal remembrances, the family wishes that contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, Il. 60601-7633, www.alz.org.
