PORT ARTHUR, TX - Ronald (Ronnie) James Engberg died June 12, 2009. He was born Aug. 31, 1957, in Slayton, MN., where he lived until his family moved to Worthington. MN. He was the fourth of five children born to Caryl & Gordon Engberg. While growing up Ronnie was always busy with paper routes, snow blowing driveways and playing hockey. He graduated from Worthington High School in 1975, then pursued a career in welding. He first attended Albert Lea Technical School then attained certification from Tulsa Welding School in Tulsa, OK. Ronnie went to work for Brown & Root taking him around the world doing specialty welding in 17 countries. Recently, Ronnie had expanded his skill set by becoming a certified crane operator. At the time of his sudden death he was a welder for H & H Technical Welding in Baytown, TX. Ronnie loved his wife, Debbie, of 4 years. Always together - they fished, gardened, traveled, rode his Harley, & spent time with grandkids. He was especially proud of his H-D Drag Bike where he was known as the "Swede for Speed". He also enjoyed NASCAR and his dream was to sit in the pit at the Daytona 500. 4th of July was his favorite holiday where he would show up with a truck load of fireworks for his own special display. Ronnie loved cooking, a culinary expert, he proudly & lovingly shared his many dishes with family & friends. Survivors include his wife Debbie, stepchildren, Scott Foster & wife Shonda, Austin, TX., Christina & husband Steven Saunders, Baytown, TX., and two grandchildren, Alexis Saunders & Tristan Foster. Ronnie's parents, Caryl and Gordon Engberg. He is further survived by sister, LaVonne & Mike Holland, Glenwood, MN., Rich Engberg & wife Dottie, Ft. Lauderdale, FL and sister, Miriam Engberg, Worthington, MN, four nephews & three nieces. He is proceeded in death by his grandparents and brother, Larry Engberg. Additional services and graveside will be held in Slayton, MN on Friday, June 19, 2009 at 11:00 a.m.
