Pauline Francis Humbird Sayers, 92, died Thursday October 15,2009 peacefully at her residence of Home Away from Home, surrounded by family and friends. She was born December 17, 1916 in Richmond, Missouri. Pauline, or as some may know her as the "Kansas City Kitty" was raised in Richmond on a farm and later moved to Kansas City, Missouri. She had many jobs as a young lady, including an elevator operator. She worked for Luce Luggage Co., Ford Motor Co., Lake City Army Ammunition Plant as an assembly line worker and later as an inside plant bus driver. Pauline was a member of American Legion and Moose Lodge of Sugar Creek, Missouri. She was a: wonderful mother and had many talents including crocheting, which was a lifelong passion of hers, and cooking. She enjoyed making homemade doilies, "footies" slippers, and pot holders for gifts. Pauline lived in KC, Mo until 2005 when she moved to Groves, Texas to live with her daughter and son-in-law. This thrilled Pauline as she was finally close to her family. She was preceded in death by her parents William Luther and Amanda Pearl Humbird, son Thomas Eugene "Sonny" Sommers, husband Ward Francis Sayers, special friend Joe Irick, and loving companion Ray Collins. Also preceded in death was brother William "Bill" Humbird, sisters Juanita Smith and MaIjorie Peters McGlothin, and baby brother Donald Humbird. Pauline was the oldest of her siblings. Pauline is survived by her daughter Judith Ann Sayers Hockett Bean and son-in-law William Daniel "Danny" Bean of Groves, Texas; Grandchildren Lonnie Sommers of Tacoma, Washington; Yancey Sommers of Tacoma, Washington; Bryan and Elizabeth Hockett of Cairo, Egypt; Stephen and Stacy Hockett of League City, Texas; Deanna and Lance Abate of Bridge City, Texas; Sonya Bean of Sealy, Texas and Candace Bean of Richmond, Texas; and great grandchildren Meagan Hockett, Mitch Hockett, Alexis Bean, Randy Abate, Justin Abate, Jakob Hockett, Madelynn Hockett, and Jerrika Hockett. Pauline is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends. She will be missed greatly and forever remembered for her stories of past experiences and her explicit sayings. Paulines' family would like to extend their heartfelt love and gratitude to those at Home Away From Home (her extended family) for their love and compassion given to her in her last years spent with us. They truly treated her like the Queen she was.
