Donald "Sweet Pea" LeBlanc passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2009. He was born on December 9, 1933 to Edne and Lillian LeBlanc. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1952. He served in the Army Reserve and retired as a Navy Sea Bee after serving a tour of duty in Vietnam. After forty one years of service at Texaco, Inc., he retired as a maintenance supervisor whom everyone enjoyed being around and respected. He was a member of the Neches River Sportsmen Club where he was an avid fisherman and duck hunter. He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus 3491 where he was well respected and helped a lot of people through his charity works, and belonged to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He dedicated his life to making life enjoyable for his wife, children, grand kids and everyone else who had the pleasure of his presence. Spending time at the beach with his friends and family was another thing that he would never give up. He would never turn away a smiling face of someone who stopped by the camp to visit. You could always drive through the addition and see him smiling and waving ... if you weren't driving too fast. There was always some good company at the beach camp with him. The main thing everyone loved so much about Sweet Pea is his caring heart and his love for life and family. He was always there to put a smile on everyone's face, and he did. He had many friends from every facet of his life, including several childhood friends. Sweet Pea is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Chester LeBlanc. He is survived by wife of 56 years, Betty LeBlanc whom he loved very much; son, Gary LeBlanc; daughter, Sheryl and husband Phil Kelley; grandchildren, Jason and wife Rebecca, Justin and wife Jennifer, and Jennifer Kelley; and four great grandchildren, Courtney, Amanda, Jacob and Haley. He was also survived by his sister, Juanita and husband Leslie LeBlanc; brother, Glenn and wife Lura LeBlanc; step-brothers, Floyd and wife Doodle East and Poochie East; Sisters-in-law, Hazel Griffin and Lois LeBlanc; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Hospice of Texas; Melba and Kim; and his family and friends for all the love, care and prayers when it was needed most. lanco serving as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Texas or Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.
