Kathleen Olive, 86, went home to be with the Lord Friday, January 15, 2010, after a 15-year battle with Alzheimer's disease. Kathleen was born to Walter and Nell Arnold in Jennings, Oklahoma. Her family moved to Bethany, Oklahoma, where she spent her childhood and later met her lifelong love P.A. Olive Jr. After marrying P.A. in 1942, Kathleen and P.A. moved to his hometown of Port Arthur, Texas. They raised their family and remained in Port Arthur throughout their lives. Kathleen or "Kat", as family and friends knew her, was a long-time member of First Church of the Nazarene in Port Arthur. She loved singing in the choir and was very dedicated to her faith and church family. Kat spent several years volunteering at Gates Memorial Library which she thoroughly enjoyed. Kat displayed incredible devotion and unconditional love to her family and friends. She found great joy in caring for others which was evident in the way she lived her life. "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord, my rock and my Redeemer." Psalms 19:14. Our mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother was a very special lady and will be truly missed. Kathleen is preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Olive and husband P.A. Olive Jr. Survivors include her daughter Karen Knight and husband Benny of Austin, Texas, sister Barbara Hansen of Sacramento, California, brother Gene Arnold and wife Aline of Conroe, Texas, sister-in-law Aline Coody and husband Vernon of Port Arthur, Texas, grandchildren Jan Ebersol, Greg Knight, Allison Zeig, Kristin Haden, Alan Olive and their spouses, 12 great- grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
