Herman Merrick Fontenot, age 81 of Port Arthur passed away on Friday, June 25, 2010 at his residence surrounded by his family. Herman was born in Pine Praire, Louisiana, to Ulysse and Eva Vellion Fontenot, and was a resident of Port Arthur for 65 years. Herman retired from Texaco after 42 years of service as a head operator in the CRU units #1 & 2. He was an active volunteer at the Hospitality Center on Gulfway Drive and was a devoted member and usher at St Joseph, Immaculate Conception and St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Churches. Herman was a devoted husband, father and teacher to his children and an accomplished carpenter. He was preceded in death by his parents and loving wife of 58 years LouWanna, brothers, Huey and Simon Fontenot. Herman is survived by his sons, Terry and partner Kelly Draper of Port Arthur, Danny and wife Maria Fontenot of Memphis, Tennessee, Larry and wife Cindy Fontenot of Port Neches, daughter, Marcella and husband Richard James of Groves, brother, Jerdy and wife Marilyn of Port Arthur, sister JoeAnn and husband Steve James of Port Neches. Grandchildren, Dustin James and wife Erin of Bridge City, Roxanne and husband Jerret Romero of Port Neches and Fallan Fontenot of Port Neches, great grandchildren, Juliet Jordan, Logan James, Ryan James, Layla Romero and Kane Romero.
